The story
Since 2012, Bonheur Simple has occupied a restored farmhouse in Embourg, just outside Liège. Behind its authentic facade lies a serene universe of clean lines, a manicured garden, a small bridge, and lush vegetation — an invitation to travel without leaving the region. The space feels both modern and tranquil, a setting that Michelin recognised with a Recommended distinction in 2026.
The kitchen here respects Thai tradition while allowing for modern touches. Recipes are authentic at their core, but the chef reinterprets them with personal flair, precise spicing, and careful presentation. The menu is deliberately short, built around seasonal produce sourced with care. A lunch formula (€30) rotates regularly, while the evening Bonheur Simple menu offers four or five courses — the latter including an optional baby lobster with five-spice. À la carte diners might start with Tom Yam Kung or ravioli of lobster with Thai whisky bisque, then move to duck lacquered with green curry and coconut milk or an Ardennes chicken in Massaman curry.
The cellar holds nearly 100 references, mostly French but with New World selections too. In warmer months, the terrace extends the dining experience outdoors. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming — no culinary journeys, just honest, accomplished Thai food in a place that feels like a retreat.
