The story
In Beaufays, just outside Liège, L'Atelier Cuisine has found a striking new home in a 1930s art deco building. The space is immediately welcoming: light colours, an imposing bar that invites a pre-dinner drink, and a large floral carpet that becomes the room's focal point. When the weather cooperates, the sun-drenched terrace offers a pleasant spot to dine outdoors.
This is the domain of chef Mounir, whose cooking is described as generous and creative, flirting with elegance. He works with fresh daily products, letting the seasons dictate his menus. His kitchen turns out plates that are both bold and refined, a style that has earned the restaurant a spot in the Michelin guide for 2026.
The menu reads like a tour of modern Mediterranean technique applied to Belgian ingredients. A lunch formule – entrée, plat, and coffee for 42 € – changes weekly. One recent week featured a tarte fine with crab and avocado followed by an onglet steak from Texane beef. À la carte, you might find a carpaccio of pineapple tomatoes with sautéed scampi and orange vinaigrette, or crispy sweetbreads with béarnaise sauce. A signature offering is the baby lobster, available in several preparations: as a three-course menu with green and white asparagus, or whole with a wok of tarragon-scented asparagus.
For a limited time, a special lunch menu dedicated to baby lobster includes a meli-melo of green asparagus with truffle vinaigrette, white asparagus with tarragon beurre blanc, and a spaghetti with lobster bisque reduction and vegetable fondue.
The restaurant also has a private room available for corporate events or family gatherings. Every dish is made on site using fresh, local ingredients.
