The story
At Cocotte in Lommel, the kitchen is led by chefs Ruben Aendekerk and Marc Verhaeren, who build their menus around pure flavours, refined sauces and seasonal produce. The team’s approach is creative and contemporary, moving from classically inspired dishes to surprising new combinations with a modern twist. Each month, a new menu of four to six courses is composed – ideal for those who enjoy being surprised. À la carte is also available, prepared with the same passion.
The cooking here is a natural fit with the Modern French and Classic French cuisines, where technique and seasonality guide every plate. A recent four-course menu, for example, might begin with mackerel, buñuelos and 'Nduja, move on to North Sea shrimp with tomato and lovage, then veal with artichoke and chimichurri, and finish with strawberry, elderflower and verjus. For those who prefer to choose, the à la carte section offers dishes such as grilled filet pur with Foyot sauce, sole meunière, or Wagyu A5 Kagoshima.
The restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status reflects this consistent quality. It is a recognition that speaks to the kitchen’s dedication without needing to shout about it.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Cocotte is informal yet knowledgeable. The team aims to make guests feel at ease, with service that is discreet, warm and informed. Whether for lunch or dinner, the setting is relaxed enough for a quiet meal and polished enough for a special occasion. Outdoor seating is available in warmer months, and the restaurant also accommodates private parties and offers takeaway.
Cocotte is located on Koning Leopoldlaan in Lommel, with parking on site. The restaurant is closed on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturday afternoons, and during several holiday periods throughout the year.
