The story
For over thirty years, Den Silveren Harynck has been a steady presence in the culinary Waasland, just outside Sint-Niklaas. The team, led by chef Els Vyt and chef-sommelier Sam Van Landeghem, describes their approach simply: “Koken is passie, dresseren de kunst” – cooking is passion, plating is art. The kitchen bridges classicism and modernism, with a clear preference for North Sea seafood and deeply flavoured meat preparations. The result is refined, consistent classic cuisine served in a relaxed, unpretentious setting.
Whether you choose the all-in menu (available Wednesday and Thursday), a degustation journey, or à la carte (not on weekends), every meal is served per table and adapted to dietary needs. The degustation menu changes frequently, featuring dishes like Kreeft Bellevue with saffron and smoked bottarga yolk, or Noorse skrei with confit winter leek and beurre blanc. The à la carte offers signatures such as the Pommes Moscovite with Belgian gold label caviar, and classics like Noordzeetong in caper butter. A lunch menu is available every midday, and a weekly “Inspiratie” menu surprises weekday diners with seasonal creations.
Den Silveren Harynck’s dedication to perfection and consistent high quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended award. It’s a recognition that aligns with the restaurant’s own philosophy: to create something beautiful and meaningful, connecting people over a memorable meal. With a passion for local produce and a deep respect for technique, this is classic cuisine at its most sincere.
