The story
In the small town of Nieuwkerken-Waas, just outside Sint-Niklaas, 't Korennaer has built its reputation on a simple, unwavering principle: first-class base products. The kitchen, driven by creativity and a focus on pure taste, turns those ingredients into the kind of precise, flavour-driven plates that earned the restaurant a Michelin star in 2026. This is modern French cuisine, executed with clarity and restraint.
The restaurant offers several ways to experience its cooking. The “Promenade van smaaksensaties” is a tasting journey available in Luxe and Exclusieve versions, with optional wine pairings that run through the main course. For a lighter approach, the lunch menu “Uit de kunst” is served on Friday and Sunday afternoons, offering two or three courses chosen by the chef, each beginning with a welcome bite. Thursday and Sunday evenings bring the “Nieuw” 4-gangen sterren diner, a four-course star menu that distills the kitchen’s current thinking into a compact, confident sequence.
Guests can also add a signature dish to any menu, or opt for a cheese selection of five Belgian-style cheeses in place of dessert. The wine list and à la carte options are both available to download, and the team offers carefully matched alcohol-free mocktails for those who prefer them.
The interior has been updated to match the level of the cooking — a renewed, comfortable space that lets the food take centre stage. Outside, a terrace offers a quieter setting when the weather allows. Whether dining indoors or out, the atmosphere remains focused on the meal itself, without unnecessary flourish.
Beyond the dining room, 't Korennaer extends its reach with two at-home services. The first, “Chef aan Huis,” brings a full team — from aperitif to coffee, complete with table setting and service — to your own kitchen. The second, “'t Korennaer @ Home,” delivers the restaurant’s top dishes for you to enjoy in your own space. It is a thoughtful extension of a kitchen that prizes quality above all, whether served in the dining room or at your own table.
