The story
la petite Madeleine is a family house on rue de la Madeleine in Tournai. Created more than ten years ago by David and supported by a loyal, dedicated team, the restaurant welcomes guests into a comfortable and warm dining room. Every member of the team gives their best, from the kitchen to the front of house.
The kitchen focuses on classic cuisine with a distinctly French gastronomic touch. Chef David works with seasonal, quality ingredients and pays close attention to flavour combinations as well as wine and food pairings. He enjoys “creating a path, telling stories, and playing with textures” in his dishes — a philosophy that has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction.
The menu is built around the best of the moment. For example, you might find mises en bouche like lacquered eel with sushi rice, nori, ginger and avocado, or an artichoke beignet with passion fruit sauce. Main courses range from a “Vitello pistacchio” with rocket, parmesan, capers, olives and lemon to roasted duck fillet with a reduced Banyuls jus and pomme paillasson. Desserts include a gratinated red fruit sabayon and a signature “tout chocolat” finish.
A vegetarian menu is also available, and a weekday lunch formule offers a two-course option at 30€. The team is careful to ask about allergies or intolerances at the time of ordering.
Above all, la petite Madeleine remains a place where hospitality and craftsmanship meet — a true neighbourhood restaurant with the ambition of a great table.
