The story
At CucinaMarangon in Turnhout, Fabio Marangon and Liana Cappiello present a personal vision of Italian fine dining. Every two months, they introduce a new gastronomic menu that highlights refined Italian seasonal products, paired with carefully selected wines from Italy. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Recommended award, a recognition that speaks to the precision and sincerity of their work.
Fabio Marangon is a self-taught chef who, inspired by his wife, immersed himself in his Italian culinary heritage. He completed stages in several Italian (starred) kitchens, bringing back a philosophy where the goal is not spectacle but celebration: a feast for the eye, the stomach, and the mind. Liana Cappiello turned her dream into reality. Her cooking is rooted in generations of passed-down family recipes—nonna’s recipes—and an innate sense of hospitality. What you see is what you get: honest, layered, and driven by passion.
The dining room offers both lunch and dinner service. The menu is structured around a choice of three, four, or five courses, each with an optional wine pairing. Dishes change with the season but might include a tomato-aspic with hamachi tartare and burrata, or tagliatelle al nero di seppia with lobster and clams. A risotto with quail, pancetta, and sage sits alongside a main course of sliced Blanc-Bleu beef entrecôte with green and white asparagus, pea purée, and a vegetable lasagnetta. For dessert, a tiramisu with speculaas and a sesame-black pepper crisp is a fitting close.
CucinaMarangon is also a place of learning. Liana and Fabio offer cooking workshops under the name ‘ALL' ITA-LIANA’, designed for both beginners and more experienced cooks. New sessions are planned for spring 2026. The atmosphere is genuine and welcoming, reflecting the duo’s belief that every meal should be a true celebration.
