The story
On Rua Maria Quitéria in Ipanema, Nosso operates with a simple, powerful invitation: sinta-se em casa — make yourself at home. This is not a marketing line but the restaurant’s founding philosophy. The space was born from a desire to create somewhere to eat well, drink well, and host diverse partnerships that open new possibilities and encounters. The result is a democratic, unpretentious environment where the line between bar and restaurant blurs into a single, memorable experience.
The kitchen is led by Chef Bruno Katz, a New Yorker born to Argentine parents who spent his adolescence in Búzios before diving into Rio’s gastronomy scene. His path includes stints with Chef Roberta Ciasca, a stage at Chef Daniel Boulud’s restaurant in New York, and time alongside Thomas Troisgros at Olympe. At 25, he took over the stove at Nosso. His cooking is described as “contemporary food without fuss” — simple, playful, and always rooted in technique and excellent ingredients. This approach has earned him recognition as a rising talent by Forbes and multiple “Chef Revelação” awards, and it helped secure the restaurant’s place as a Michelin Recommended establishment.
The menu reflects this philosophy. Cocktails like the Tacacá Sour, made with Bombay Sapphire, jambú, tucupi, and cupuaçu, or the Negroni Cunhã Puca, featuring jambú and caxirí, showcase a playful fusion of Brazilian ingredients with classic cocktail structures. The food menu (available on their site) carries the same spirit — contemporary, ingredient-driven, and designed for sharing. The atmosphere is relaxed, with both indoor air conditioning and outdoor seating, and the service is informal yet attentive.
Nosso is a place where the unexpected becomes routine. It is a space for the simple pleasures of life, shared among friends, and recognized by the world’s most exacting guide.
