The story
Bistrot de Paris transports the soul of a Parisian neighborhood bistro to the Jardins district of São Paulo. The space is welcoming, unpretentious — a place where the scent of bubbling cheese and slow-cooked stews fills the air. The restaurant calls it l’esprit bistrot: a commitment to generous, honest French cooking served at a fair price.
This philosophy earned the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand, a recognition for good quality, good value cooking that perfectly matches the restaurant’s mission. Here, the cuisine is French bistrot at its core — dishes rooted in tradition, made with quality ingredients, and executed with precision.
Behind the stove is Chef Alain Poletto, a culinary engineer, professor, and consultant who brings deep technical skill to every plate. His mastery of sous-vide technique shines, but the food never feels fussy. It remains what it should be: comforting, flavorful, and true to its origins. Poletto draws inspiration from his own family, and that personal connection comes through in the care taken with each dish.
The menu is built around French classics that have been satisfying Parisian diners for generations. In winter, the restaurant rolls out its Spécialités Savoyardes — Alpine fare that demands to be shared. The Soupe à l’Oignon arrives crowned with puff pastry. The Tartiflette du Savoyard layers Reblochon cheese, boiled potatoes, and house-made bacon. There is a traditional Raclette, served with cured meats and cornichons, and a classic fondue made from Appenzeller, Emmental, and Gruyère, kissed with Kirsch. Each dish is prepared with respect for the original recipe, but elevated by the chef’s attention to technique.
Beyond the seasonal specials, the regular menu offers a broad selection of French bistrot staples, from escargots to confit de canard, from steak frites to crème brûlée. The wine list and cocktail menu follow suit — classic, well-chosen, and approachable.
Diners can also order the restaurant’s award-winning dishes for home through delivery, either ready-to-eat or as vacuum-sealed kits from the online shop. It is a way to bring a taste of the Bistrot into one’s own kitchen, without losing the spirit of the original.
At Bistrot de Paris, the experience is genuine: good food, a warm room, and the feeling that you have stepped into a small corner of France, right in the heart of São Paulo.
