The story
Parquet sits on a corner that feels both settled and alive. The restaurant blurs the line between a neighbourhood favourite and a Toronto destination — a place where regulars and first-timers share the same warm welcome.
Parquet was founded in 2022 by Daniel Bernstein and Matt Cohen, close friends who met 25 years earlier as students at the nearby University of Toronto Law School. The name comes from Parquet de Versailles — the geometric wood mosaics that line the grand halls of the 17th-century French palace. That same attention to artisanship, warmth, and timeless style guides everything here.
Head Chef Nicky Dao leads the kitchen, while General Manager Kathleen Chun oversees the dining room. Together they create a setting where French cuisine feels approachable and precise.
In 2026, Parquet earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to the quiet confidence of its cooking and service. The restaurant serves an à la carte dinner menu alongside a dedicated dessert and digestif list, plus a curated drink selection. Walk-ins are always welcome, and corkage is available for a fee.
Parquet is open Tuesday through Saturday evenings. The dining room, the bar, and the outdoor seating all share the same relaxed, unfussy spirit. It’s French-inspired cooking without pretence — exactly what a neighbourhood restaurant should be.
