The story

Viaggio Toronto: Michelin-Recommended Italian Dining on Dundas West

Viaggio

On Dundas Street West in Toronto, Viaggio occupies a historic building that feels right for the kind of evening it offers: unhurried, personal, built around Italian flavours that don’t shout. The 2025 Michelin guide took notice, awarding it a Recommended distinction for its consistent, characterful cooking.

The kitchen turns out a menu that moves from antipasti through primi, pizza, and mains. Start with burrata and focaccia, the cheese paired with poached rhubarb and pistachio, or a panzanella salad built with heirloom tomatoes and bufala mozzarella. The steak tartare comes with spicy bomba, egg yolk, and house-made sourdough. Pasta is a strong suit: cacio e pepe done straight with pecorino and butter, mafaldine with n’duja sausage and bone marrow ragu, or spaghetti alla nerano with fried zucchini and parmigiano butter. Cavatelli di coniglio brings braised rabbit and saffron butter; risotto primavera piles on spring vegetables, sheep’s milk feta, and a chili breadcrumb crunch.

Pizzas are wood-fired, with toppings like mortadella di Bologna and pistachio, miso-marinated mushrooms with whipped ricotta, or duck confit with roasted plum preserve. For mains, Ontario trout with preserved lemon butter and a breaded bone-in pork chop milanese stand alongside a 30-day dry-aged striploin with red wine jus.

The wine list leans heavily Italian, with a deep selection by the bottle and glass, and the cocktail program includes originals like the Midnight in Palermo (dark rum, Nepèta Amaro, vermouth) and the Testarossa (mezcal, elderflower, orzata, Cappelletti).

The dining room seats up to 32; the patio can hold 55, and the whole space works for private events up to 100 standing. Service is attentive but relaxed, and the atmosphere is warm without trying too hard.

Viaggio serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday, from 5 pm to 10 pm.
