On Fraser Street, in Vancouver’s Fraserhood, Bravo has quickly become a neighbourhood destination. Since opening in August 2023, this small, energetic spot has drawn a loyal following with its seafood-focused menu and warm, down-to-earth hospitality. The Michelin Guide calls it “a buzzy neighbourhood spot” with “satisfying, lively cooking” – and the recognition feels earned.

The Team Behind the Stove

Partner and Head Chef Jonah Joffe brings experience from Michelin-starred Masa’s in San Francisco and a deep appreciation for seasonality. He works alongside Sous Chef Megan Kaczmarek, whose skill and laughter anchor the open kitchen. Partner Jon Merrill, a Halifax native and lifelong oyster shucker, and GM Loui Foufas, a larger-than-life Greek hospitality veteran, ensure every guest feels welcomed. Bar Manager Dani Hackenberg rounds out the team with creative cocktails that match the kitchen’s ambition.

What’s on the Plate

The menu changes with the seasons, offering raw and cooked dishes that celebrate the ocean’s bounty. Start with oysters and house-fermented chili, or the signature Tofino King Salmon with maple ginger dressing. Other standouts include the Spanish octopus with brava sauce and the tagliolini with Humboldt squid bolognese. The bar program, from the Bravo Pilsner to inventive cocktails like the Charted Water, is equally thoughtful. Daily happy hour runs from 4 to 5:30pm.

With its contemporary seafood cooking and genuine sense of place, Bravo has earned its Michelin Recommended status – and a spot in the hearts of Vancouver diners.
