The story
In Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, ¿CóMO? Taperia channels the spirit of classic, centuries-old tapas bars found in Barcelona’s Poble Sec or Madrid’s La Latina quarters. The restaurant brings a modern, cheeky twist to that tradition, inspired by extensive travels across Spain. The result is a warm, lively space where the food and drink are taken seriously, but the atmosphere stays fun.
Small tapas are served directly from custom tapas cases imported from Barcelona, filled with ready-to-eat bites. Classic dishes like tortilla española are made to order, while hot items such as t-bone steak with anchovy butter and the finest chorizo come from the open kitchen. Playfully modern plates, inspired by nostalgic items, are also prepared to order—try the Bikini Sandwich or the hamburguesa con foie.
The bar keeps a sharp focus on everything Spanish: premium gins with unique tonics, a wide selection of sherry, and an always-changing, innovative wine list. Alongside Spanish beer on tap, you will find a rotation of local craft beer, cocktails on tap, and Spanish vermut on tap. An extensive collection of cava is also available by the glass.
¿CóMO? Taperia has been a Michelin Guide selection for four consecutive years, a testament to its consistent quality and authentic Spanish cuisine. It is also one of only two restaurants in Canada to hold the official “Restaurants from Spain” certification from the Spanish Embassy, recognizing its commitment to authentic Spanish produce and flavours.
The restaurant operates with a mix of reservations and walk-in seating, plus a seasonal patio. A small mercado and wine shop is open during business hours, and the team hosts a Summer Paella Event on Sundays throughout the warmer months.
