The story
Taian Table is the culmination of Chef Stefan Stiller’s vision for a small, intimate, and food-driven dining destination. Founded in Shanghai in April 2016, the restaurant centers around an open kitchen, where each dish is prepared in front of guests and introduced personally by the chefs and staff. The atmosphere is designed to be interactive and intimate, breaking the boundaries of traditional fine dining.
The style of cooking at Taian Table is refined, modern, and creative. The team creates an entirely new tasting menu every eight weeks to capture the spirit and energy of each season, using the best ingredients from around China and the rest of the world. Starting this year, the restaurant will introduce five menus annually: four that capture the essence of each season, plus a "Best of" menu featuring standout dishes. While the techniques are rooted in Europe, the cuisine constantly draws inspiration from the products and flavors of Asia and beyond. Each guest begins with an 8-course degustation menu, with the option to add signature and seasonal dishes.
Originally from Celle, Germany, Chef Stefan Stiller began his career at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants in Germany. After moving to Shanghai in 2004, he became a prominent figure in the city’s culinary scene, both as a chef and as a mentor to aspiring cooks. In Guangzhou, Executive Sous Chef Anson Ren works closely with Stefan and Chef de Cuisine Ivan to ensure the highest quality on every plate. Anson brings experience from Michelin-starred restaurants in Shanghai, including Phénix at The PuLi Hotel & Spa. The restaurant’s commitment to excellence has earned it a Michelin star, reflecting the team’s dedication to hospitality and refined, seasonal cooking.
