The story
Restoran Dubrovnik serves Mediterranean cuisine on the pedestrian only island of Lopud under the direction of owner Ivo Glumac. His family has maintained this hospitality tradition since opening the doors in 1999. The kitchen operates on a straightforward principle that prioritizes whatever arrives at the local docks each morning. Daily hauls of crabs, shellfish, and various sea fish completely determine the daily offerings.
A glass display window keeps the morning’s selection chilled until service begins. Staff members often steer diners toward grilled scorpionfish, cuttlefish, or wild tuna that gets rinsed in seawater and cooked over light seasoning. Hearty meat preparations appear alongside the seafood, including a Dalmatian mixed grill and a veal roll filled with shrimp and feta cheese. The mussel buzara arrives next to house baked black bread stained with cuttlefish ink.
Tables occupy a broad seafront terrace or shift to a covered canopy as afternoon light fades. Each plated Mediterranean dish rests beside traditional accompaniments like braised chard, boiled potatoes, or a simple mix of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. A carefully curated list of regional wines provides steady support throughout the meal. This dedication to seasonal sourcing and honest preparation recently secured a thirteen point score from Gault&Millau for 2026.
