The story
On the promenade of the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, overlooking the marina and the old town, Agli Amici Rovinj brings the refined vision of Italian chef Emanuele Scarello to the Croatian coast. The restaurant earned a Michelin star within its first year of opening and now holds two Michelin stars for its excellent cooking.
Chef Scarello has created two tasting menus, Rovinj and Istria, each priced at €210 per person. The Rovinj menu, titled "Soil washed by the Sea," leads with dishes such as scallops with sea water, coral, and yogurt, and a golden cuttlefish preparation with citrus and pepper. The Istria menu, "Sun-kissed Land," features a nasturtium course with flowers, leaves, and pasta with Urbani whey, followed by sweetbread with strawberry and roses, and a Boškarin beef dish with mustard, almonds, and figs.
Both menus showcase Scarello’s signature approach: sophisticated simplicity with a strong personality. The cuisine is rooted in Italian tradition but draws on the specific aromas of Istria and the local coastline. Wine pairings are available from €95 per person, with a sommelier’s choice offering six glasses for €190. A no- and low-alcohol pairing is also available for €65.
The setting is elegant and direct, with a terrace that offers a panorama of the sea and St Catherine island. The restaurant is air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible, with outdoor seating for warmer months. Agli Amici Rovinj reopens for the season on April 1, 2026.
