The story
SILQ Restaurant in Prague traces its culinary roots to the historic trade routes connecting Southeast Asia, the Far East, and the Mediterranean, offering a refined take on eastern cuisine. Located inside the modern PPF Gate building in the Dejvice district, the project continues the legacy of the earlier Café Sofa concept. The team treats each menu as a study in regional heritage, preserving recipes that have traveled between generations. This approach earned the venue a solid eleven point score from Gault&Millau, which noted how the eastern cuisine bridges continents without sacrificing authenticity.
The kitchen rotates its focus through guided tasting weeks that spotlight specific countries along the ancient pathways. A recent Tunisian program featured an houria salad built around preserved carrots, tuna, olives, and quail eggs, followed by sea bream simmered in a tomato base with capers and lemon. Another highlight included fresh artichokes packed with seasoned beef, showing how the cooks layer traditional spice blends with precise heat management. These plates demonstrate why the menu functions as a living archive rather than a static list.
Visitors encounter a bright, minimalist dining room designed to keep attention on the food and conversation. Large windows frame the surrounding architecture while polished surfaces reflect the natural daylight that pours into the main hall. Beyond the glass doors sits a relaxed outdoor lounge where guests can share water pipes from Meduse Pipes on warmer days. The layout encourages unhurried meals that match the deliberate pace of Silk Road cooking traditions.
