The story
Høst means “harvest” in Danish, and the name sets the tone. The restaurant occupies a classic Copenhagen building on the corner of Nørre Farimagsgade and Ahlefeldtsgade, where exposed brick walls and Danish midcentury furniture create a setting that is both rustic and elegant. This aesthetic has earned Høst international design awards, including World’s Best Designed Restaurant at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.
The kitchen focuses on great Nordic ingredients and seasonal greens, combining minimalism with big, generous flavours. The current dinner menu offers three or five courses, starting with smoked scallops with cucumber and horseradish. Mains include stuffed quail with black currant and porcini mushrooms, beef tenderloin with Madagascar pepper, or grilled lobster tail with lobster cream and pearl barley. Dessert is a rhubarb creation with white chocolate and brown butter ice cream.
A separate five-course vegetarian menu showcases the same seasonal philosophy: fried white asparagus with horseradish, beetroot salad with black currant and goat cheese, potatoes with leeks and winter truffle, and a pearl barley risotto with green asparagus. Wine pairings are available for both menus, with glasses chosen to complement each course.
Høst is part of the Copenhagen Food Collective, a group founded on the belief that good food should be accessible and rooted in respect for ingredients and people. The restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status for 2026 reflects its consistent execution of refined modern cuisine that stays true to its Nordic foundations. The result is a meal that feels both grounded and surprising, served in a room that feels like a natural extension of the kitchen’s values.
