The story
Kiin Kiin VeVe, located at Dampfærgevej 7 in Copenhagen’s Østerbro district, has transformed into a classic Thai restaurant as of June 2025. The restaurant offers both a non-vegetarian and a vegetarian classic Thai menu, served daily from 16:30. This change marks a new chapter for the venue, which has earned a Michelin recommendation and received praise from Danish media, including Berlingske, Finans, Politiken, and Børsen.
The à la carte menu features a range of Thai dishes, from snacks like prawn crackers with chili mayo and pork crackling with northern Thai green chili dipping sauce, to salads such as somtam (papaya salad) and pomelo salad. Starters include chicken satay, tuna tartare, shrimp cakes, and tom kha soup with scallops. Main courses span panang curry, fried seabass, khao soi, pad krapow, and pad thai, with vegetarian options available throughout.
For a deeper exploration, the VeVe Tasting Menu presents a 5-course journey through four regions of Thailand. Beginning with snacks from the North, Northeast (I-Sarn), Central, and South, the menu progresses through dishes like somtam, grilled chicken, creamy tom yum goong, khao soi with braised beef, and sticky rice with mango and coconut ice cream. The tasting menu is priced at 625 DKK per person, with optional wine or juice pairings.
The restaurant’s Michelin recommendation reflects a consistent level of quality that has also earned it mentions in the White Guide and a 20-star rating from Børsen, which described the experience as a “cohesive dining experience at the top level.” The setting in Østerbro is relaxed and welcoming, with the kitchen open every day from 16:30 to 21:00.
