Flor Helsinki: A Relaxed Wine & Food Bar for Modern Nordic Cuisine
Flor is a relaxed wine and food bar on Iso Roobertinkatu in the heart of Helsinki. It is the “little sister” of Natura, one of the city’s best-regarded restaurants, and run by the same talented team. This is a no-fuss, casual spot where seasonal Nordic ingredients and Old World organic wines take centre stage.
Chef David brings over twenty years of experience from Michelin-starred kitchens across Finland, England, France, and the Netherlands. His cooking is deeply personal and seasonal — dishes draw from his travels and professional journey, blending clean, bold flavours with the natural essence of organic ingredients. The menu changes with the seasons, offering a five-course surprise menu (vegetarian or non-vegetarian) alongside an à la carte selection. Expect dishes like sauna-smoked ham from Turku, honey-roasted carrots with ’nduja and tahini, aged wild whitefish in green bell pepper tiger milk, or 72-hour cooked beef cheeks with parsnip purée.
The wine list is built around biodynamic and organic wines exclusively from the Old World, with a strong focus on small, family-run producers. Nearly 100 bottles are on offer, and Coravin technology allows many high-quality wines to be served by the glass. The team’s long-term ambition is to become Finland’s best wine bar.
Sustainability runs through everything — from local and organic sourcing to minimising waste. The wine programme mirrors this ethic, with producers whose farming practices respect the land. Flor’s food and wine pairing options let diners explore the menu in a way that feels effortless and guided.
This approach earned Flor a Michelin Recommended status, a recognition that fits naturally with the kitchen’s precision and the bar’s welcoming, unpretentious spirit. For those seeking modern cuisine in a relaxed setting, Flor offers a genuine taste of Helsinki’s current dining scene.
