The story
In the village of Abondance, in Haute-Savoie, Chalet Flachaire offers an experience that is both elegant and intimate. Run by a passionate couple, this small restaurant—seating only a dozen guests—focuses on refined modern cuisine paired with a warm, personal welcome. It's a place where the mountain setting and the plate are in perfect harmony, an approach that earned it a Michelin Recommended mention for 2026.
The dining room opens onto a splendid view of the valley, reinforcing the sense of being in a true mountain chalet. Guests can choose between two tasting menus. The "Menu des cimes" (Peaks Menu), available at dinner midweek and for lunch on weekends, is a longer, seven-course affair. The shorter "Menu l'alpage" (Alpine Menu) is offered for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays, and for dinner on Sundays. Both change with the seasons, but the restaurant's own descriptions give a sense of the style: dishes like "Jardin d'écrevisses" (crayfish garden), "Fleur de sandre" (pike-perch flower), and "Truite poivrée et acidulée" (peppery and tangy trout) suggest a kitchen that balances precision with bright, clear flavours. A "Chariot de fromages" (cheese trolley) featuring local cheeses is available as a supplement.
The restaurant also offers two 45 m² suites, each with a balcony overlooking the mountains, making it a true destination for those seeking a complete alpine escape. The location, 30 kilometres from Lake Geneva and at the entrance to the Portes du Soleil ski area, is ideal for year-round mountain activities.
