The story
Restaurant Erre sits within Domaine du Roncemay, a 19th-century château hotel set on 140 hectares of parkland in the Yonne region of Burgundy. The property, lovingly restored by the Meignen family, is a place of quiet elegance – stone walls, exposed beams, and a deep respect for the surrounding nature. Here, the kitchen draws directly from the local terroir: produce from the estate’s orchards and vegetable gardens, waters from the ponds, and meats and cheeses from nearby producers.
The restaurant is led by Marine Mateos and Clément Vergeat. Mateos, the pastry chef, brings a refined touch to desserts, as seen in the seasonal Tea Time – a selection of six sweet creations served with a hot drink, available on Thursday and Friday afternoons. The partnership of Mateos and Vergeat expresses a cuisine that is both precise and rooted in Burgundian traditions. Guests can expect a menu that changes with the seasons, focusing on locally sourced ingredients prepared with modern technique.
Erre earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a recognition that aligns with the team’s ambition to offer “escales gourmandes en Bourgogne” – gourmet stopovers in Burgundy. The dining room opens onto a terrace overlooking the gardens, and the service is attentive without being formal. Wine pairings highlight the great bottles of the region, from Chablis to the Côtes d’Auxerre.
Beyond the table, Domaine du Roncemay offers a complete experience: an 18-hole golf course, a 850 m² spa (nominated for the World Spa Awards 2025), and walking trails through ancient oaks and beech trees. Erre, however, remains the heart of the domaine – a place where the pleasures of the table meet the calm of the countryside. Open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner.
