The story
At 42 place Jean-Jaurès in Albi, L’Épicurien offers a dining experience that balances modern technique with genuine warmth. The restaurant describes itself as a place with an “épuré et chaleureux” setting – clean-lined and inviting – where guests can share a meal with friends, family, or colleagues.
The kitchen focuses on modern cuisine, drawing from seasonal produce and traditional French roots. On the current menu, starters include a Burratina with pea pesto and focaccia, a carpaccio of beef with foie gras mousse and artichoke-almond salsa, and a ceviche of langoustine with leche de tigre and white asparagus. Mains range from a roasted sea bass with black rice, chorizo, artichokes, and fava beans to quasi of veal with morels, white asparagus, and wild garlic oil. There is also a dedicated vegetarian menu featuring a poached egg with green and white asparagus and morel hollandaise.
Desserts stay true to French classics with a twist: a pistachio biscuit, praline parfait, and candied orange; a forêt noire tart with chocolate, cherry, and cream; and a classic mille-feuille with strawberries.
L’Épicurien earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, an award that recognises good quality cooking at a reasonable price. It suits a restaurant that offers set menus such as the Menu du Moment (39.50 €) or the more elaborate Menu Épicurien (56 €), with optional wine pairings available. The approach is straightforward: well-sourced ingredients, precise execution, and a setting that puts the focus on the table.
