The story
On the banks of the Loire, in the village of Veuzain-sur-Loire just outside Amboise, an elegant 18th-century building houses La Croix Blanche. In 2020, chef Jean-François Beauduin and his wife Laëtitia took over this former coaching inn, bringing with them a vision of refined, ingredient-driven cooking.
The kitchen focuses on a short, regularly changing menu built around fresh, local produce—from the land and the sea, with a particular emphasis on Loire river fish. This commitment to quality without pretension earned La Croix Blanche a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, an award that recognizes good quality, good value cooking. It is a mark of the kind of place where the cooking speaks for itself, and the welcome is genuinely warm.
The dining room reflects the building’s history—solid, graceful, and comfortable. When the weather allows, the large shaded terrace, surrounded by towering mulberry trees, becomes the heart of the experience. The atmosphere is convivial and relaxed, exactly as the Beauduins intended.
La Croix Blanche’s modern cuisine is deeply rooted in the terroir of the Loire Valley, yet it feels fresh and of the moment. The short carte evolves with the seasons and the market, ensuring that each visit offers something new. A small gîte on the property can accommodate up to four guests, making it an ideal base for exploring the nearby châteaux of Amboise, Cheverny, and Chaumont-sur-Loire.
For those seeking a genuine taste of the region—executed with skill and served without fuss—La Croix Blanche delivers a memorable meal in an unforgettable setting.
