The story
In the center of Amiens, steps from the Rue des Trois Cailloux and the towering cathedral, Ail des Ours brings a singular vision to the plate. Chef Stéphane Bruyer’s cooking is open to the eye, inspired by nature, and rooted in the seasons, drawing on the best produce of the Picardy region.
The restaurant’s name – “wild garlic” – hints at the chef’s affinity for wild herbs and foraged ingredients, though the menu changes regularly to follow what the land offers. Everything is made in-house, from scratch, with an emphasis on local, fresh products. This commitment to genuine, ingredient-led cooking earned Ail des Ours a place in the Michelin guide (Recommended 2026), as well as nods from Gault & Millau, Le Petit Futé, and Le Guide du Routard.
Bruyer holds the state title of Maître Restaurateur since 2018 and was appointed ambassador for the Somme as part of the “Hauts-de-France, European Region of Gastronomy 2023” label. His style is straightforward yet refined: seasonal vegetables, quality meats and fish, and sauces that let the main components speak.
The dining room is welcoming and accessible (wheelchair-friendly), with air conditioning, a private room for parties, and free Wi-Fi. Lunch and dinner service runs Tuesday through Saturday, with a single evening service on Tuesdays and a midday and evening service Wednesday to Saturday.
Whether you are visiting Amiens for its Gothic cathedral or exploring the floating gardens of the Hortillonnages, Ail des Ours offers a calm, modern French dining experience that stays true to the territory.
