The story
At 7 place Molière in Angers, L'Ardoise brings the sun-drenched flavours of the Mediterranean basin to the table. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its good quality, good value cooking, a recognition that speaks to the consistent, generous spirit of the kitchen.
The story begins with Brice and Thibault, who met while working at the legendary Tour d'Argent in Paris and later at Fontevraud. Together, they have written their own gourmet story in Angers, united by a love of cooking. Their menu is a celebration of the Mediterranean: pissaladière, focaccia, risotto, linguine, and tiramisu all feature, with dishes that change daily according to the freshest arrivals.
The à la carte menu offers a choice of seasonal starters, mains, and desserts. Standouts include a marinated thonine with Lebanese semoule, a supreme of poultry with tomato and basil sauce, and a catch of the day cooked in fish soup with ravioli and crunchy fennel. For those who want to share, there is a generous antipasti platter for two to six people, featuring burrata, hummus, tapenade, and focaccia. The dessert list is equally tempting, with a flourless chocolate fondant, a classic tiramisu, and a profiterole with chocolate sauce.
L'Ardoise also caters for private events, including corporate lunches and cocktail dinners, with the option to privatise the restaurant on Tuesday evenings. The atmosphere is welcoming, with outdoor seating available and air conditioning for warmer days. Whether you come for a midday formule or a full evening menu, this is a place where the kitchen's passion for honest, Mediterranean-inspired cooking is clear in every dish.
