The story
Le Restaurant, opened in 2024 by Chef Michaël Riss, is a bistronomic spot in the heart of Annecy that has already earned a Michelin recommendation. Riss, who grew up in the area, returned to his roots after 18 years working alongside starred chefs like Yannick Alléno and Hélène Darroze. His project is a hybrid space: a restaurant and a wine cellar (Le Cellier) designed for sharing and conviviality.
The kitchen is built on a commitment to ultra-short supply chains. Riss and his team work directly with local farms, markets, and artisans—from the Ferme de Manneguet to the Distillerie Saint Esprit—to source fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, and wine. The approach is contemporary and sustainable, with zero-waste practices and full transparency about where ingredients come from.
The atmosphere matches the food: welcoming and unpretentious, with a terrace right on Avenue de Genève. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, while Le Cellier stays open later for tasting and takeaway. Whether you settle in for a full meal or stop by for a glass and a locally sourced product, the experience is grounded in the same philosophy: magnifying the produce of the region without artifice. The Michelin nod confirms that this modern cuisine, rooted in place and season, is one to watch in Annecy.
