The story
Azimut describes itself as a cave à manger – a wine bar and eatery that puts both food and drink on equal footing. Located on rue Montgolfier in Annonay, in the green Ardèche region, it brings a welcome breeze of freedom to the local dining scene. The Michelin Guide, which referenced the restaurant in its 2026 edition, praises its locavore cooking that draws flavours from locally sourced, often organic produce.
The restaurant is run by two partners with complementary skills. Manon, the sommelier, is passionate about nature, vines and biodiversity. Corentin, the chef, trained in high-end gastronomy and remains deeply attached to the taste of the product, the producers and short supply chains. Together they have built a place where their shared principles – homemade, seasonal, for good reasons – are evident in every dish and glass.
Azimut’s cuisine is modern, but never fussy. The menu changes with the seasons, and the cooking is described as “lively, seasonal and local.” Corentin’s plates are the kind you want to mop up with bread – hearty, honest, and full of flavour. On the wine side, Manon sources healthy wines from the region and beyond, offering a carefully curated drinks list that evolves with each visit.
The restaurant’s tagline, “FAITS MAISON, DE SAISON, POUR DE BONNES RAISONS,” sums up its philosophy: everything is made in-house, according to the season, for sound reasons. This is modern cuisine that respects its ingredients and the people who grow them, served in a relaxed, wine-friendly setting.
