The story
In the quiet village of Gouy-en-Artois, just outside Arras, Origine brings a focused, modern vision to the table. The restaurant is led by chef Maëllie Poynard and sommelier & maître d’hôtel Alexandre Laboureur. Poynard, trained in prestigious houses before returning to her native region, cooks with a clear, sensitive hand — one that lets the product speak.
The cooking is described as living, vegetable-driven and instinctive, built around frank seasons and clean gestures. Every plate connects to a producer, a culinary memory or a creative intuition. This is Modern French cooking at its most grounded: zero waste, short supply chains, and a deep respect for forgotten ingredients.
The dining room is intimate and calm, designed for unhurried tasting. The team works with local farmers, fishermen and market gardeners, sourcing what the land and season offer. Menus evolve constantly, with wine pairings suggested by Laboureur.
Origine’s quiet commitment to sincerity and responsibility has earned it a Michelin Recommended award, a fitting nod to a kitchen that measures success in flavour, not flash.
