The story
Simon Picard leads the effort at this renovated ostréicole site after trading a business school background for life as an oyster farmer. For over five years, he has managed shellfish beds on Île Berder and along the banks of the Auray River. A group of friends from the Vannes region joined him to restore the property, transforming it into a working farm focused on careful cultivation.
The dining space retains a centuries-old timber frame while adding a concrete and steel terrace that floats above the glittering waters of the gulf. This setup provides sweeping views of the islands within the Golfe du Morbihan. The recognition earned from Le Fooding's 2026 listing highlights the success of this transformation, bringing diners to a venue where maritime architecture meets active aquaculture.
The menu focuses on regional specialties like crab rillettes sourced from Groix and oysters served warm in garlicky parsley butter. A signature platter presents three oysters from Berder alongside three milder varieties from Auray, accompanied by raw clams, brown shrimp, periwinkles, whelks, and whole-grain mustard mayonnaise. Dessert arrives as a far, a custardy prune-studded Breton flan warmed from a Larmor-Baden bakery and finished with salted caramel.
