The story
L'Espérance is a gourmet restaurant in Bandol that has earned its place in the 2026 Michelin Guide, the Gault & Millau Guide (2 toques), and the Routard Guide. Chef Gilles Pradines and his wife welcome guests to an intimate dining room where rigour, creativity, and perfection guide every plate.
The chef’s modern cuisine is 100% homemade, built on fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local markets. Menus and à la carte options change regularly to reflect what is best at the moment. Pradines places great importance on selecting and respecting produce, letting the flavours of Provence shine through with finesse.
Diners can choose from a set menu at €58 (starter, main, dessert) or a gourmet menu at €68. À la carte dishes include pearly monkfish cheeks with crushed peeled tomatoes, basil, caper slivers, and fruity olive oil (€22). Another standout is medallions of Southwestern pork roasted with bay leaf, served with candied flat peach, a rich smoked onion jus, and fondant potatoes (€36). Desserts are equally refined: a local raspberry crisp with hibiscus, light lavender-scented cream, and raspberry sorbet (€14), or a creamy lemon-grapefruit dessert with soft golden meringue (€14).
The restaurant offers a cosy, air-conditioned atmosphere with a private room available for special occasions. Service is attentive and warm, with table service that matches the quality of the cuisine. Lunch and dinner are served in two seatings; reservations are recommended due to limited seating. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
