The story
Le Carré des Saveurs sits among vineyards, olive trees, and lavender fields in the Gard countryside, just outside Barjac. The restaurant occupies two distinct spaces: a warm, vaulted dining room from the 18th century, and a Provençal patio open to the surrounding landscape. Whether you’re with family, friends, or on your own, the atmosphere is one of relaxed elegance — a place where the meal becomes the centre of the moment.
The kitchen is led by a team that describes its cooking as bistronomique: creative, entirely made from scratch, and driven by fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. Aromatic herbs are picked from the restaurant’s own garden, while the olive oil and wines come from the Domaine Pays de Cocagne, which shares the same property. The menus and carte change regularly to reflect the best of each season — a contemporary approach that feels both rooted and spontaneous.
The restaurant’s commitment to quality has been recognised by the Michelin Guide, which awards it a Recommended distinction. It also holds the Table Savoureuse label from Logis, a mark of authentic, generous dining.
Le Carré des Saveurs is part of a larger domain that includes an hotel, self-catering cottages, a day spa, and a boutique selling regional products, estate wine, and olive oil. The restaurant can host private events for up to 100 guests, with a dedicated meeting room available. Open from March to December, seven days a week, it’s a destination in itself — and a perfect base for exploring the nearby Gorges de l’Ardèche, Vallon Pont d’Arc, and the Cévennes.
