Crème

A dual purpose café and wine bar on Rue Paradis recognized by Le Fooding for steady day and night service.

The story

Crème in Beaune blends coffee culture with regional French cooking

Daylight service and kitchen staples

Crème delivers a grounded French cooking style along 27 Rue Paradis in Beaune. David Maurin and Julie manage the counter next to their fabric shop, serving MOK roasts and grazeable plates until midday. The morning menu features an egg mayo sandwich alongside a croissandwich stacked with Jura cheese and house cured ham. Afternoon tables receive a chicken broth simmered with butternut squash and chickpeas, or a cabbage salad finished with smoked anchovies.

Evening kitchens and regional pours

Daylight service winds down as local wines take center stage at this dual purpose venue. Chef Mike Hazlewood steps behind the stove following his tenure at Saint Eutrope, shifting the focus toward robust regional cuisine. He prepares an authentic caillette served with wilted Swiss chard and sheep’s milk yogurt. A rich meaty jus ties the dish together while the wine list highlights selections from nearby Saint Romain vineyards.

Neighborhood placement and guide recognition

The space occupies a quiet stretch near Beaune’s historic center. Le Fooding included the establishment in its 2026 listing for maintaining steady quality across both day and night service. The dual format allows guests to transition smoothly from breakfast pastries to evening cheese boards without changing venues. Outdoor seating extends the footprint onto Rue Paradis when the weather permits.

Where coffee meets corks. Nestled in the heart of Beaune’s wine country, this cozy, dual-purpose spot effortlessly balances espresso cups and wine glasses, spreading feel-good vibes courtesy of its owners. One door down from his partner’s fabric shop, David Maurin’s (ex-Caves Madeleine) well-honed roasts and grazeable bites go down a treat, while Julie keeps spirits high pouring MOK beans and Saint-Romain wines. Start your morning with a loaded egg mayo sandwich or a croissandwich stacked with Jura cheese from Ferme de Laisia and housemade ham using pork from Petits Bois farm. Lunchtime switches gears: lightly spiced chicken broth with melting butternut squash, chickpeas with bite and a generous dusting of Parmesan; a pointed cabbage and cauliflower salad cloaked in Caesar dressing, all draped with smoked anchovies; or even an authentic caillette with wilted Swiss chard, sheep’s milk yogurt and a rich meaty jus. By evening, coffee gives way to local wines, while chef Mike Hazlewood (ex-Saint-Eutrope) takes command in the kitchen. · Laszlo Dela
