The story
Since 2019, Lise and Matthieu Vidal have been welcoming guests to L’Ortensia, a restaurant and guesthouse set on a nine-hectare estate in Saint-Gervais-sur-Mare, near Bédarieux. The couple’s philosophy is built on respect for the guest, the truth of the product, and the simple pleasure of sharing a meal. That ethos has earned the restaurant a Michelin recommendation, a fitting recognition for a place that puts authenticity first.
The kitchen is led by Matthieu Vidal, whose cooking is rooted in the local terroir and the rhythms of the seasons. Every dish is made from scratch, with a focus on Modern Cuisine that is both refined and sincere. The menu changes regularly, reflecting the chef’s inspiration and the best available ingredients. Guests can dine in a bright, airy dining room or on the large panoramic terrace, which offers sweeping views of the Monts d’Orb.
