The story
Amour Blanc is the second dining room within the Fleur de Loire estate in Blois, conceived by chef Christophe Hay. The name pays homage to the eponymous carp, and the restaurant is built around the idea of generous, shared meals. Here, classic French cuisine is prepared with seasonal produce sourced from the best local producers, and the cooking is defined by the flames of a wood fire – a technique that elevates fish and meats alike.
The menu reads like a tour of the Loire Valley and beyond: local fresh and aged cheeses, Geline de Touraine poultry, red mullet, Cancale shellfish, Loire mullet, Sologne caviar, foie gras, fried gudgeon, and even lamb pita from Sologne. Each dish is honest, direct, and built on pure flavour.
The dining room is light-filled and wood-panelled, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the Loire River and the silhouette of the Château de Blois. The design borrows from Art Deco in its lighting, while the overall feel is warm and natural. Outside, a terrace with around thirty seats offers a panoramic view of the river, shaded by oak trees that line the quays.
Amour Blanc earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a recognition of its ability to combine modern French cuisine with the primal appeal of wood-fire cooking – all in a setting that feels both elegant and welcoming.
