The story

Ériu Deli Bordeaux | Modern Delicatessen & Sandwich Counter

The kitchen and its creator

Grace Lohan expanded the original Irish café concept into this second location, partnering with former Gauta cook Marie Le Cossec to shape the menu. The resulting French deli earned a spot on the 2026 Le Fooding list, recognized for its precise balance of housemade pickles and premium regional produce. Le Cossec applies rigorous technique to straightforward formats, letting quality ingredients carry the weight.

Signature plates and pantry shelves

The pinewood walls and sapele-wood counter frame a selection built for immediate enjoyment or careful packing. A grilled cheese on country bread from Louis Lamour melts leeks and mature cheddar from Mimi Crèmerie until it pulls apart cleanly. Veg lovers might choose the focaccia slicked with peanut sauce and topped with a miso-marinated egg, while the bacon sando pairs crisp lettuce and pickled red onions with a parmesan and caper mayo. Glass shelves behind the counter hold Belazu mustard seed pickles and rose harissa for take-home cooking.

Sweet finishes and seasonal plans

Matcha cranberry cookies arrive alongside a fluffy caramel-pecan sponge cake that balances sweetness with a light crumb structure. The pastry work complements the savory lineup without competing for attention. Lohan notes that homemade chicken pies will join the takeaway offerings soon, extending the deli’s reach beyond daily sandwiches.

Le Fooding — Listed

Just steps from her Irish café, Grace Lohan has doubled down, adding a second Ériu to the lineup – this time as a sandwich shop-cum-grocery store, beautifully dressed by Gironde-based interior designer Cécile Simian (aka Bibi). Between pinewood walls, a sapele-wood counter and fifties-style lighting, sink your teeth into chef Marie Le Cossec’s (ex-Gauta) knockout sandwiches, pimped with premium ingredients, housemade pickles and zingy dressings: a grilled cheese on country bread from Louis Lamour, loaded with melted leeks and gloriously oozy mature cheddar from neighboring Mimi Crèmerie; a crunchy veg-packed focaccia slicked with a decadent peanut sauce and a miso-marinated egg; or – our pick – a bacon sando with lettuce, tangy pickled red onions and a creamy parmesan and caper mayo. Sweet things hold their own: matcha cranberry cookies or a joyfully playful fluffy caramel-pecan sponge cake. The shelves stock smart store cupboard staples too, like mustard seed pickles, tahini and rose harissa – all from Belazu. Coming soon: homemade chicken pies to take away. · Ari Beaux
