The story
At Joki, on rue des Bahutiers in the heart of Bordeaux, the kitchen team works with a simple conviction: good food starts with good ingredients. The restaurant champions local producers, letting the flavours of the region speak for themselves. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious – a place where a meal feels like a genuine encounter rather than a performance. This approach earned Joki a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to its honest, skilful cooking.
The chef designs three menus that evolve with the seasons and the market. The Menu Découverte (49 €) offers a single starter, main and dessert – a concise introduction, available at lunch. For a deeper taste, the Menu Gourmand (65 €) presents one starter, two mains (fish and meat) and a dessert, served as a blind tasting chosen by the chef. The most ambitious is the Menu Éveil des Sens (90 €, evening only): two starters, two mains, two desserts – a progression meant to stimulate all the senses. The chef tailors each course to the table, and the restaurant asks that everyone at the table choose the same menu to share the experience fully.
What sets Joki apart is its dedication to pairing cocktails with food. Alongside a thoughtful wine list, the bar team creates cocktails that mirror the precision of the kitchen. Guests can choose a full cocktail pairing, a mix of wines and cocktails, or alcohol‑free mocktails – each option priced separately per menu. It is a modern approach to an old idea: that what you drink should lift what you eat.
Beyond the dining room, Joki opens its doors for private events and offers gift cards for those who want to offer an evening out. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, and dinner only on Saturday, with lunch service by reservation.
