The story

Ro'cha in Bordeaux – Modern Cuisine by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France

Welcome to Ro'cha

Just steps from Parc Bordelais, Ro'cha occupies a charming neighbourhood house in Le Bouscat, a stone's throw from central Bordeaux. Chef Jean-Luc Rocha, a Meilleur Ouvrier de France (2007) of Portuguese heritage, opened his first restaurant here in March 2023. The dining room seats about thirty guests in a bright, inviting space, with additional tables set on a pleasant terrace when the weather cooperates.

The kitchen is driven by the market. Chef Rocha builds his modern cuisine around fresh, seasonal produce, updating the carte regularly to reflect what is best at the moment. The result is a menu that feels both spontaneous and grounded – dishes that are generous yet unpretentious.

At lunch, the "Impromptu" menu changes weekly, offering a choice of two starters and two mains, plus a cheese course or dessert, all preceded by an amuse-bouche and followed by petits fours. In the evening, the "Convivial" menu lets you compose your own three-course meal from the carte, while the "Caprice de Chef" presents five small courses for a more immersive experience. Vegetarian options are available on request.

Ro'cha has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a fitting recognition for a chef of Rocha's pedigree. The atmosphere is warm and unhurried – the kind of place where the food speaks for itself, and you feel genuinely welcomed.
