The story
Zéphirine describes itself as “la lecture contemporaine d’une Maison de famille” – a modern take on the family home. This spirit permeates every corner of the place, from the restaurant to the takeaway counter and the pastry shop. The concept is built on three pillars: Auberge Urbaine (the urban inn), Comptoir Gourmand (the gourmet counter), and Pâtisserie du Coeur (the heart’s pastry shop). Together, they form a cohesive destination where modern cuisine meets genuine hospitality.
At the Auberge Urbaine, lunch and dinner are served in a setting that feels both refined and relaxed. The kitchen focuses on seasonal, modern cuisine – think citron meringué with fresh dill, royale of broad beans with spiced chickpeas and radishes, or sautéed squid with wild garlic and broccoli. These are not just dishes; they are snapshots of a kitchen that balances technique with honest, vibrant flavours. Everything is made in-house, from the blanquette de veau to the brandade of local fish, as evidenced by the extensive “fait maison” selection available to take home.
The restaurant’s quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended award, a nod to its consistent execution and thoughtful approach. But Zéphirine is more than a dining room. The Comptoir Gourmand opens from 10 am, offering a place to sit, sip, and shop. The Pâtisserie du Coeur and the online shop allow guests to bring a piece of the experience home – whether it’s a jar of confit, a bottle of wine, or a candle. This is a place that lives beyond the table, rooted in the modern cuisine of Bordeaux and the warmth of a family home reimagined.
