The story
La Ferme du Vert began in 1980, when Joseph and Anny Bernard traded a legal consultancy for a 19th-century Napoleonic farmhouse in Wierre-Effroy, near Boulogne-sur-Mer. Their vision was simple: live closer to nature, eat well, and share that calm with others. Today, the Bernard siblings carry on that spirit, running the hotel and restaurant with an ethos of simplicity, authenticity, and generosity.
The restaurant at La Ferme du Vert offers a modern cuisine that lets the best of sea and land speak for themselves. The menu changes with the seasons, featuring beautiful local produce — from the nearby coast and the surrounding Boulonnais countryside. Guests dine in a light-filled main room that opens onto the rural landscape. This commitment to quality and value has earned the restaurant a place in the Michelin Guide’s selection.
The restaurant is part of a larger three-star hotel, but the dining room feels like a family home — warm, unhurried, and genuinely hospitable. Whether you are staying overnight or just passing through, the atmosphere invites you to settle in. The setting is both refined and relaxed, with outdoor seating available when the weather allows.
Beyond the restaurant, the Bernard family runs an on-site cheese workshop, where they craft regional cheeses. It is one more expression of their connection to the land — and a reminder that at La Ferme du Vert, the food tells a story of place. The restaurant’s recognition from Michelin reflects this dedication to honest, flavorful cooking.
