The story
Since 1975, La Fenière has been a family-run auberge at the foot of the Luberon. Today, it is the stage for chef Nadia Sammut, who carries forward a lineage of women cooks. She describes her approach as Cuisine Libre® – a personal, free cuisine that works without gluten or dairy, turning dietary constraints into creative freedom. The Michelin Guide calls it “a cuisine as natural as it is accomplished, celebrating forgotten flours, garden vegetables, and coastal catches in a sustainable approach.”
The signature experience, Le Goût du Bonheur, is served from Tuesday to Saturday evenings (15-cover seatings at 19:30 and 20:30, from €130). For a more relaxed lunch, Une Table à la Campagne is offered on the same days (from €55). On Sundays, Un Dimanche à la Campagne is a brunch to share (€70 adults, €35 children). Nadia Sammut’s cuisine draws directly from the permaculture garden tended by her and the team – what grows there shapes the daily menu, from the dining table to the breakfast table.
The garden is a living pantry. Nadia and her team work the soil in permaculture, growing vegetables, herbs, and fruits that compose the plates day by day. This commitment to sustainable, local, and conscious cooking earned La Fenière the Michelin Green Star alongside its first star. The Guide Michelin notes: “A committed, personal table of rare sensitivity – Provençal terroir revisited with full awareness.”
From Monday to Wednesday, La Fenière becomes a nourishing residence. Nadia invites chefs, winemakers, and friends for four-hands dinners and rare encounters. Past collaborations include Ruinart, Maison Meï (wines), Maison de la Pistache, Bastide du Laval (olive oil), and Solar Brother (solar cooking). These events are announced through her monthly newsletter – a way to extend the table beyond the usual service.
