The story
On avenue André-Breton in Cahors, facing the Pont Valentré, Chez Suzanne is the project of a couple who know each other’s cooking intimately. Julien Poisot, former chef of the Michelin-starred Château de Mercuès, and Justine Basin, his second-in-command for six years, left the starred kitchen to open their own place. “We have the same vision of cooking, the same palate, the same way of cooking,” they say. The result is a cuisine made with four hands, in harmony.
The restaurant’s slogan, “cuisine du cœur,” is not marketing fluff. It’s a commitment to generosity and gourmandise, built on local products. The duo’s DNA is local sourcing: trout from the Gouffre de Blagour, farmed Quercy lamb, foie gras, and a revisited mique. They also propose “canailles” dishes like sweetbreads and kidneys. “We only serve what we love to eat,” they explain. The cooking is precise – mastered cuissons, careful seasoning, beautiful plating.
At lunch, a formule offers entrée-plat or plat-dessert at 25€, or a full three-course meal at 35€. In the evening, the menu moves to a refined 45€ for three courses, a 65€ option with two entrées and a fish or meat main, and a tasting menu at 80€. The Michelin guide, which awarded Chez Suzanne a Recommended status for 2026, notes the quality of this modern French cuisine.
The dining room is a place of sharing and conviviality, with outdoor seating available. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. Whether you are a local or a visitor, Chez Suzanne offers a genuine taste of the Lot region, executed with the precision of chefs who have honed their craft in a starred kitchen.
