The story
Perched on the fourth floor of a building overlooking the Calais coastline, Aquar'aile offers a perspective that few restaurants in the region can match. The dining room, panoramic and glass-walled, looks out across the North Sea, the sandy beach of Calais, and the distant English coast. It is a setting that makes the most of the Channel light, and the view is an integral part of the experience.
The kitchen focuses on seafood, prepared with a modern sensibility. Menus change regularly, with a three-course Menu starting at 38€ (served Tuesday through Sunday) and a lighter Formule Découverte at 28€ (Tuesday to Friday). A dedicated children's menu is available for those under twelve. The wine list is carefully selected, and the pastry team handles desserts in-house.
Aquar'aile has earned a Michelin Recommendation, a recognition that speaks to the consistency and quality of its cooking. The restaurant is also a member of the Maîtres Restaurateurs association, a French label that guarantees a fully homemade kitchen.
Practical details are handled with care: the restaurant is wheelchair accessible, has an elevator, and welcomes dogs. Parking is available. Payment options include restaurant tickets, holiday vouchers (ANCV), and the local "Mon shopping c'est Calais" card.
Closed Monday, Wednesday evening, and Sunday evening.
