The story
Le Channel sits on the boulevard de la Résistance, facing the pleasure port of Calais. The dining room is described as warm and welcoming, providing a comfortable setting for the restaurant's savoury cuisine. This is a place where the focus is squarely on the plate and the pleasure of the table.
The kitchen presents a modern take on French cuisine, with a clear emphasis on the seafood that the region is known for. The menu structure offers choice and flexibility. A daily lunch menu is available during the week at 22 €, featuring a starter, a plat du jour, and a choice of dessert – a café gourmand, a house vacherin, or a selection of cheeses. For a more extensive experience, a gastronomic menu ranging from 29 € to 51 € allows guests to compose their own meal, a nod to the restaurant's commitment to personalised dining. The cuisine is grounded in French traditions but prepared with a contemporary touch.
The restaurant’s quality has been recognised with a Michelin Recommendation, placing it among the noteworthy tables in the region. This award reflects the consistent, high-level cooking that Le Channel delivers.
Beyond the restaurant, the team runs a dedicated shop at 1 rue André Gerschell, specialising in fine cheeses and wines. It is managed by Iris, Lætitia, and Arnaud – the latter a former winner of the Best Young Sommelier of Nord-Picardie. The shop offers an expertly curated selection of wines, champagnes, and spirits, along with a cheese counter where custom platters are prepared for events. This extension of the restaurant’s philosophy shows a deep commitment to the entire dining experience, from the kitchen to the cellar.
