The story
On the port of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, a short drive from Cannes, Le Repère has carved out a corner of the Mediterranean that feels suspended in time. The restaurant takes its inspiration from the dolce vita of the 1960s and 1970s—a deliberate, unhurried pace where a lunch stretches into an afternoon and an evening lingers well past sunset.
Le Repère is a recent addition to the Michelin guide, recommended for its confident, seasonal modern cuisine with an Italian soul. The kitchen works with local market produce and the day's catch, turning out antipasti like Vitello tonnato, a creamy Burrata delle Puglie with heirloom tomatoes, or a tender octopus salad with taggiasche olives and ponzu dressing. Fresh pasta is made in-house: trofie al pesto, linguine alle vongole, and gnocchi alla Sorrentina are the kind of dishes that anchor a meal. For mains, the whole grilled fish of the day or a tagliata of beef with rocket and parmesan shavings are classics executed with precision.
The restaurant sits directly on the water, with a private beach area of striped parasols and sun loungers. The day unfolds in four movements: la pausa from 10am for lounging and swimming, il pranzo for lunch facing the sea, l'aperitivo from 5pm for Spritz and antipasti to share, and la sera when dinner is lit by lanterns and the sound of the waves. The bar pours a signature Le Repère Spritz, alongside a wine list that travels from Tuscany to the Rhône Valley.
Le Repère also offers private dining for up to 70 indoors or 200 on the terrace, and total buyouts for up to 300 guests. It is a place designed for gathering—birthdays, engagements, or simply a long afternoon by the water.
