The story

L'Atelier L'Art des Mets, Cavaillon: Bib Gourmand Provençal Cuisine in Les Taillades

L'Atelier L'Art des Mets, Cavaillon

In the village of Les Taillades, at the heart of the Luberon, L'Atelier L'Art des Mets is the project of Romain and Peggy Dumas. Both came from notable, starred houses—Romain in the kitchen, Peggy in the dining room—and in March 2017 they took over this address to create their own.

The restaurant’s identity is built on the wild herbs and plants that Romain forages each week. This practice gives his refined Provençal cuisine a distinct, floral character, with “rediscovered or little-known flavours” that linger. The menu changes with the seasons, built around local produce and the chef’s weekly harvest. A signature example is the soup of the moment with wild herbs and pan-fried duck foie gras.

The setting is an intimate dining room of around thirty covers, where nature comes inside and extends to an outdoor terrace overlooking a decorative pool. It is a convivial, welcoming space for all seasons.

Peggy orchestrates the front of house, ensuring the warmth and professionalism learned in those great houses are felt by every guest. The restaurant offers different menus at lunch and dinner, making it accessible for both locals seeking a gustatory discovery and travellers exploring the region.

This commitment to quality, value and a strong sense of place earned L'Atelier L'Art des Mets a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, recognising good quality, good value cooking in a region rich with produce. For anyone passing through the Luberon, it is a genuine stop for honest, flavour-driven cooking.
