The story

Le Chiquito – Michelin-Recommended Classic Cuisine in Cergy-Pontoise

A 17th-century setting for modern French classics

In the quiet town of Méry-sur-Oise, just north of Cergy-Pontoise, Le Chiquito occupies a building that has housed a restaurant since 1969. The structure itself dates from the 17th century, when it served as a bar-tabac. Today, chef Anne-Sophie Godry and her team bring a refined yet welcoming energy to this historic space.

The restaurant’s name is a nod to a famous Basque pelota player who, legend says, used his chistera (the curved wicker glove of the sport) to throw grenades in the trenches of World War I. It’s an unexpected piece of local lore that sets the tone for a place where tradition is honoured but not ossified.

A cuisine that is both traditional and inventive

Godry describes her cooking as “traditional and inventive” – classic French cuisine rooted in quality terroir products, but with a modern touch. The menu changes with the seasons, offering a three-course option at 76€ and a five-course Market Menu at 92€.

Starters might include an oeuf parfait with pea cream and lard, or a stuffed cabbage with poultry mousseline. Among the mains, the sole cooked low-temperature with a leek and kiwi pickle stands out, as does the beef fillet with artichoke purée and sherry vinegar jus. Desserts like the Paris-Brest with chicory anglaise or the chocolate-miso creation show Godry’s playful side.

An elegant, accessible atmosphere

The dining room is chic and baroque, with a relaxed feel that makes it suitable for both special occasions and weekday lunches. The restaurant is fully accessible (PMR standards), with a reserved parking space in the garden. It also offers takeaway and delivery.

Le Chiquito’s recognition in the Michelin Guide for 2026 – as a Recommended restaurant – reflects the consistent quality and genuine hospitality that Godry and her team deliver. It’s a place where classic French cuisine feels alive and generous, not stuck in the past.
