The story
At L'Ouillette in Santenay, just outside Chagny, Maude and Simon Oudin run a hotel-restaurant where the philosophy is refreshingly direct. As they put it: “Modern or traditional cuisine, the important thing is to make good cuisine.” From starters to desserts, everything is made in-house, a commitment that earned the establishment a Michelin Recommendation for 2026.
The restaurant’s approach is rooted in quality and sincerity. Whether you call it modern cuisine or something more classic, the focus is on fresh, well-executed dishes. The dining room and outdoor seating offer a warm, comfortable atmosphere, making it an inviting stop in the heart of Burgundy’s wine country.
Maude and Simon Oudin are the faces behind L'Ouillette, personally welcoming guests and ensuring each meal reflects their dedication. The restaurant is open Thursday through Monday, with lunch from 12:00 to 13:30 and dinner from 19:00 to 21:00. The establishment closes for several periods throughout the year, so advance planning is wise. For reservations, the team prefers using their online contact form rather than voicemail.
