The story
In Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure, a restored 19th-century manor house faces the Champ de Foire. Here, Patrice Devaine and Pascal Pressac run Le Tilleul du Gourmet, a restaurant named for the ancient linden tree that shades its terrace. The setting is both elegant and relaxed — inside, the dining room and épicerie retain a quiet, old-fashioned charm; outside, summer meals take place under the broad canopy of the tilleul.
The cooking is rooted in the Charentais tradition, described by the team as “une cuisine d’ici, respectueuse de notre patrimoine charentais.” Yet it is also creative, driven by a desire to highlight the work of local producers. The result is a menu that changes with the seasons, balancing tradition with inventiveness. This approach has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended award, a recognition of its consistent quality and regional commitment.
Beyond the plate, Le Tilleul du Gourmet offers a carefully selected épicerie and a wine cellar, La Cave, where guests can explore bottles from the region and beyond — for an aperitif, with the meal, or to take home. The restaurant is also a member of the Tables Gourmandes du Poitou-Charentes and the Union de la Sommellerie Française, underscoring its dedication to local gastronomy and fine wine.
For those who want to prolong the experience, Le Nid du Tilleul provides accommodation in a cosy, cocoon-like space. But the restaurant remains the heart of the property: a place where the cuisine of Charente is treated with respect and creativity, served in a setting that feels both historic and welcoming.
