The story
Just a few steps from the Château de Chenonceau, the Auberge du Bon Laboureur has been welcoming travellers since 1786. What began as a coaching inn is now a five-star hamlet of five distinct houses, held by the Jeudi family for six generations. Today, Antoine Jeudi carries that tradition forward, ensuring the art of hospitality remains the soul of the place.
The table at the Auberge is an institution in Chenonceaux, distinguished for decades by Michelin and Gault & Millau. The kitchen is now led by Chef Damien Chéry, who works closely with Antoine Jeudi to create a menu that is both an ode to the terroir and a testament to restraint. Here, the cooking is not about demonstration but about equilibrium: respect for the product, generosity of gesture, and sincerity of flavour. The restaurant’s classic cuisine and modern cuisine are rooted in the local landscape, drawing on the richness of Touraine.
The gastronomic restaurant, housed in the main Maison Jeudi, is complemented by a remarkable wine cellar—a treasure of local crus and great vintages that the team guides guests through with care. For a more casual moment, the bar-bistrot offers a simple, authentic space for lunch, an apéritif, or a quiet tea. Whether in the dining room or on the terrace, the experience is one of unhurried pleasure, grounded in the region’s generosity.
